Dinner is served!

Mesa está Servida

In Alegría Party Design we love taking care of the decoration of tables at weddings: the centerpieces, the cutlery, plates and glasses. By paying attention to little details and following protocol rules and good manners, we can make a very elegant arrangement.

Innovation will always represent a challenge while trying to make every event a different and unique experience.

Evidently, food is very important, one of the stars of the big night, but we cannot forget about the presentation, because it brings out the quality of the catering.

Don’t forget people also pay attention to the visual presentation of food. If we set a homogenous style for decoration and table organization, we can guarantee the harmony among all elements: centerpieces, plates and glasses, the cutlery, table linens… Create a space in which our guests can truly enjoy the feast.

Vintage crockery mixed with very modern cutlery, colorful glasses, table runners made of flowers or well integrated centerpieces; any idea is good if we know how to combine elements to obtain the perfect result.

The distribution of the tableware and the protocol to follow at a wedding depend on these details:

  • If the wedding is elegant or casual.
  • If dinner is served in a buffet or by a professional catering.

However, there are a few secrets that simplify the task of setting the table properly to accomplish the sobriety and elegance we want:

  • Design the tables in advance using the decorating style of the event.
  • Decide where the guests will sit and put cards with their names in every seat.
  • Choose the crockery according with the style of the wedding and the plates that will be served.
  • Choose delicate centerpieces that don’t obstruct your dinner guests or the serving staff.
  • Do not overload the table with exaggerated or exotic details.

Distribution of the tableware at a wedding

  • Match the tablecloths and napkins for an elegant wedding.
  • The napkin always goes on the left side of the plate or on the plate.
  • The cutlery must be placed in the order of use, from outside in.
  • The cutlery for desserts must be placed horizontally at the top of the plate.
  • The service plate can be ceramic, silver, stained steel or other, and above it, the waiters will place and take out the plates served.
  • There are three glasses: one for the water, other for the white wine and the last one for the red wine.
  • The table for children is much simpler and goes in accordance with the kids’ menu that is served.

This is the order to serve the dinner cou.rses, so you don’t miss any details:

  • Welcome cocktail.
  • Appetizer.
  • Main course.
  • Dessert and dessert table.
  • Wedding cake.
  • Midnight snacks.
  • Breakfast.

Naturally, the distribution of the tableware and the protocol to follow at a wedding depend on the type of celebration, the menu you decide to serve and the style of the feast. Everything must go in accordance with the personality and the preferences of both groom and bride.
